It worked great. My Wii suddenly stopped reading CDs and I've been trying to fix the problem to no avail. I got this as a last resort, it was easy to install (after watching some youtube videos) and it worked right away.

Works as it should as a replacement for the failed original drive. I just went to the iFixit website, followed their instructions, and swapped out the old drive for the new one with no problem!

worked great. The Wii stopped reading discs about 6 months ago. I was looking for hard drive replacement here. Seen good reviews. Got this and my 8 year old and I took the Wii apart and replaced the bad hard drive. The smile on my son's face as he fired and read the games he wanted to play was worth all the screws we had to remove.

I read other people's 4 stars with a plus but I had no luck because the disc I bought didn't work. There was obvious spinning noise and the drive had a read error. It's even worse than my original drive, which at least sometimes works with some discs. Will have to send back and buy elsewhere.

My Wii has stopped reading discs and isn't responding to suggested online fixes like cleaning the laser lens. I ended up taking it apart with a special tool (a triangular screwdriver) that Nintendo ALWAYS forces you to purchase (GRRRRRR - this is for YOU Nintendo, stop tugging at us and use regular screws). I found that the laser wasn't moving due to a faulty motor driving the laser lens. While you can replace just the motor, the entire drive costs about the same and is much easier to replace…
