Description of πŸ”§ Enhance Precision with OTC 6009 Cam Positioning Tool for Ford - Pair

OTC 6009 Cam Positioning Tool for select Ford engines - pair. Designed to work in conjunction with OTC's 6020 Cam Positioning Tool to hold cams in correct position when servicing, preventing accidental timing changes which can cause severe engine damage. Use with OTC's 6020 is mandatory for all applications (6020 provides the 'flats' needed to lock the camshaft in place) except for 1991 4.6L 2V V8's which require the 6009 tools only. For use on select 1991 to 2012 Ford vehicles equipped with 4.6L and 5.4L V8, and 6.8L V10 engines - see product description below for a detailed list of applications. Tool performs the same function as Ford No. 303-380 (T91P-6256-A).

This junk thing is good for crankshaft position

That's how much you pay for this dumb thing, you need two other tools to go with it, and it will cost you another 60-80 bucks, which the heck I had to build my own after buying it instrument so that I can use it. Good metal is the only thing I can say, it's good, it's the only thing you think is good

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Compatibility

Too bad it didn't match my 2003 Grand Marquis.

The description led me to believe I ordered the right tool: This tool serviced Ford vehicles from 1991 thru current year. What bothered me was that it didn't work on my 2003 Grand Marquis. The tool looks great and I would buy it again to use it properly. Hopefully this will prevent a similar error for someone else.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Makes me nervous

Excellent goods! in sensors

I've never worked with heads and was a bit afraid that the spring-loaded camshaft could move during operation and cut off a finger. This tool works fantastic along with the other components that come with it and makes all the troubles easier for the newbie. An experienced mechanic may not see the point in this. However, here's a warning I'd like to know upfront: They should NOT be used to install cam gears. The torque will cause this tool to flex outward, making it a lot less useful. **EDIT** I

Pros
  • There's something in there

  • No insurance

Like others, I didn't replace the timing chain.

Well like others I have not done a timing chain change on this type of engine or in my case a head gasket change. So I bought these tools, although they fit snugly, they don't hold the cams exactly at top dead center on cylinder #1. According to the manual, the camshaft key guide should be perpendicular down at a 90 degree angle to the cylinder head. You can make it 80 degrees or so. I think I'll make them to do the last 10 degrees. Also, on the driver's side (left) cylinder head, the non-tab…
