Ford Modular V-8/V-10 Engines Cam Tool Service Set - OTC 6487 Review

The tool holds/positions the camshaft but in my case it popped out of one of my cams when I was removing the timing chain. The tool was placed as instructed and failed to fix the camera. However, I was able to change the position and lock it after removing the head. The update is updated when I check the sync.

for Romeo Engine. Better buy them separately. Misleading Advertising. It had to be specified for which type of engine it was made. YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELF.

I used this tool on a 1998 Lincoln Navigator with a 5.4 liter engine. This tool worked great and came with good instructions. I posted a video on YouTube showing how I used it. I only used it on one cylinder head because that was the only side with a leaking head gasket/stripped spark plug threads. I would recommend it because it makes this job a lot easier.

I bought a tool kit because I couldn't find the tool I needed on any site. So I went ahead and used the whole set. And it was a bad idea. The cam holding tool really didn't do the job that well. It bent when I used it. In general, the whole kit looks very flimsy and cheap. I wish I had it back because it was awful. I ended up making my own tool and it worked great.

I received the tool exactly as described. I didn't need all the parts I got for my truck (V-10) but for the peace of mind that the cams wouldn't move unexpectedly it was a good investment. I tried to see if a local shop would rent it out for a few days but no one seems to have this tool handy. I rebuilt the heads so when they were removed I removed the clip and reused it in the install. Unless the heads are rebuilt it would be nice to have two clips, one for each head, for a little more money.
