Works very well. Best in Computers & Accessories

So far this drive case has worked well. I use it as Mac OS G5 Time Machine. I easily installed a Seagate BarraCuda 8TB internal hard drive - 3.5" SATA. Works quietly and reliably.

Pros
  • Certified
Cons
  • Everything OK

Quiet Solution for External Drive

I didn't want to get into noisy fan shrouds, so I bought this and a Seagate 10TB Exo drive. Works great and very quiet! It connects to a USB-C port on a 16-inch MacBook Pro via a hub.

  • Full Kit

Thought I lost my data

My WD drive is broken, no power, no warning. The record is 7 years old, the warranty has expired. Bought an OWC case and transferred the hard drive, very simple and easy to do. Plugged it in and my data came back; backed up all files.

Pros
  • Worth the money
Cons
  • Protection

It works well. Best External Hard Drive

I use this hard drive as a backup in my home system. The disc is quiet, works well, I really like the look. It also has a light blue activity indicator, which I like too. The real difference so far has been the support for the OWC product. For me they were accurate, friendly and FAST. I recommend them.

Pros
  • Great Choice
Cons
  • Expensive

OWC especially for computers and accessories

I have any number of external drive enclosures, from cheap to not so cheap, and the important factor here is that you get what you pay for. And OWC has never let me down. The Mercury Series cases have stood the test of time while many others have failed. And while they aren't the cheapest in price, they aren't the most expensive either and represent very good value for money.

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • Hard to say

Fanless case with USB-C works great

I had purchased a previous Mercury Elite Pro Dual RAID drive direct from OWC. This often resulted in unexpected ejections from my Mac and eventually the drive failing after 3 years. The fan was also noisy. I say all this because I hesitated to replace this drive with another OWC drive. I bought 2 of these empty enclosures and put one of the remaining drives from the previous enclosure in one and the new drive in the other. Both work like a charm. Completely silent and the speed of the interface

Pros
  • Fingers crossed
Cons
  • I'm silent

My drive has been in my Mac Pro for three years without a single problem. I wanted to make an external drive out of it. A large transfer of 1.5 TB has started. The transfer took almost a day via USB 3 and failed towards the end. My data was gone and macOS could no longer read the drive. I know MacOS has been a disk destroyer in the past. Since Panther 10.3, MacOS has erased over 14 of my hard drives. So I can't tell if this is for Unix or OWC. Sonnet Allegro USB 3 PCIe card Seagate Iron Wolf…

Cheap scrap for external hard drives

OWC went down. This was a replacement for a 7 year old OWC Mercury Elite Pro with a failed power supply. The new one not only gave me constant "Semaphore timed out" errors when trying to copy files (whether using Windows Explorer, SyncToy or Robocopy), but somehow the partition got corrupted and disappeared. I had to reinitialize, repartition and format the new hard drive. This happened to a brand new WD 4TB Blue HD which I loaded with files via a USB dock while waiting for this unit to arrive.

Pros
  • Large selection
Cons
  • So-so

Nice external drive enclosure, easy to set up.

I needed a new direct-attached storage solution to use with my 2018 MacMini and Backblaze Cloud Backup Service, and I needed an enclosure to later replace the drive in, and I needed a drive that could take advantage of the USB-C speeds of the MacMini 2018's USB-C ports. I've used OWC products before, I had one of their external BluRay drives in my day and a few of their portable USB Hard drives (bus powered) so OWC was on my radar. The chassis itself is all aluminum with an aluminum stand with…

  • Minor issues
