Almost perfect, though.

EXCELLENT! The opening spring needs to open much further or the top handle needs a rear strap as does the bottom handle so you can open it with one hand. When carving a turkey backbone, you must open it wide, almost to the point where the two blades separate for cleaning. They fell apart in two pieces several times because I had to hold them with two hands. I only cook turkey twice a year so I'll live with that.

Pros
  • A dream come true
Cons
  • Empty

Bad design ruined a decent product

The small metal spring that provides cut resistance broke immediately. I managed to get it back in while mashing the turkey, but if I leave the scissors open too far it falls out again. Also, opening the scissors too wide may cause the scissors to fall apart due to the release mechanism for easy cleaning. Overall they did a good job of slicing the turkey bone, but they aren't designed very well and I have no plans to use them again.

Pros
  • Elegant design
Cons
  • Everything is fine

The pickiest person I know loved these scissors.

Bought as a gift for BIL. He used it to whip up a Thanksgiving turkey and was very happy with it. He said they work great. They are very convenient and easy to use. Since you don't know my son-in-law, I can only say that he likes something better than a good seal of approval from his home country. He's the pickiest person I know and only accepts the best of everything. These things are amazing and I would have no hesitation in recommending them.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Not fashionable

Good control means safe cutting

I like my two piece Cutco shears (used/broken for over 20 years) but they have straight blades and are not good for trimming whole chicken backbones. They have been recommended to me by several chefs I know and I am very satisfied. Well, maybe a spring return redesign is in order; It feels a little light, but overall I can't call the product too big for something that hasn't broken yet. Using them gives you complete control when breaking bones, meaning they are MUCH safer to use than heavy duty

Pros
  • Complete set
Cons
  • Sad packaging

Carving chicken is not only easy but also fun

I still don't understand why it works so well, but carving chicken is not only easy but also fun. With a little practice, all you have to do is cut out the cartilage around the wings and hips, and then just pull it out of the joints. Then the spine practically separates and nothing else is needed. The only cut you need to make is on the sternum, but that's the easiest part. The straight scissors I used aren't nearly as easy. And it can be easily disassembled for cleaning. You've thought it…

Pros
  • Worth the money
Cons
  • Makes me nervous

Shear Heaven on scissors

These are absolutely the best budget bird shears I have ever owned. I'm a big Oxo fan and after about 8 years I had to replace my first Good Grips kitchen shears and poultry shears. They changed the style of kitchen scissors; they no longer have spring power. These poultry shears still have a spring-loaded locking design. You'll cut the chicken bone with little to no effort. I only bought them because my first pair is about 8 years old so I'll put them in the garage to cut branches maybe trim…

Pros
  • Confident
Cons
  • Can I add something
