OXO SteeL Cocktail Strainer 3 Inch Review

This strainer is an incredible addition to my 'Official Refreshment Shake Series' which is made once or twice a week. It packs lemon seeds and coffee grounds and is easily dishwasher safe. The mesh is pure perfection - I wouldn't change a thing. Highly recommended. Upon delivery: I would recommend additional packaging - perhaps a hard plastic wrap around the filter as the screen was damaged when first shipped.

I was looking for a strainer to brew loose granulated tea, but it didn't work. I've read that it has worked for some people who have used it to make coffee and I really don't know how it worked for them. It's good in terms of firmness and thickness, but every time I put it in a cup it doesn't stay flat! It tips up and becomes a problem when brewing loose tea. It's pretty easy to clean, but some grains get stuck sometimes. I think I would try to find a filter with smaller openings.

Was hoping for a "very fine screen" as advertised but it's good at best. I have a metal rice strainer that you wash dry rice in and it's about the same thickness. I wish the weaving was tighter so the holes were smaller. Filters large and medium particles. However, it does not filter fine and tiny. To give you an idea, the smallest thing filtered is the size of the pre-ground coffee (e.g. from a Folgers can). Even then I'm not sure if it will load more than 95%. It's pretty strong and well…

I'm a big OXO fan, but this handy filter even exceeds their standards. Although I bought it to strain citrus juices, the practicality is much higher than most kitchen or bar uses. The perfect balance between handle and strainer.
