Description of OZCO 56607 Laredo Sunset Post

Includes: 1 Post Base Plate; 4 Decorative Plates; 8 Hex Cap Nuts; (8) 1/4 by 3-3/4-inch OWT Timber Screws. Fits all standard 4 by 4-inch from 3-1/2-inch up to 4-inch square. Can be mounted to concrete, wood, stone or Oz-post (surface mounting hardware not included). 3/16-inch thick hot dipped galvanized and powder coated steel. Raised base keeps wood post elevated from ground contact; Recommended for pergolas, decks, veranda posts, pavilions, arbors, and railings.

You get what you pay for

What I didn't like was the price. I needed 3 and the total cost was over $120.00. Maybe I am but it was expensive for a 4x4 basis. However, I wasn't happy with what I had now. I liked their looks and the fact that the bottom of the base is compact, so I ordered them. Delivery was a day better than advertised which is always a plus. Not audited for compliance with the Code.

This Fortress/Ozco product looks good and probably works well, but has not been tested by the local Building Inspectorate. He requested documentation that the product was compatible with the code since he had never seen the product in action before. A perfectly reasonable concern for structural integrity. Ozco/Fortress/Engineering Express was unable to email me evidence of compliance. Engineering Express charged $30 for a "sealed" copy. This makes the product prohibitively expensive. If I don't

Great system, easy to use, good value for money

A friend recommended this system for the looks - something substantial but not industrial. I looked at that and the cost but in this case you definitely get what you pay for. This includes free plans with a materials list. Using blueprints and a system, I built a 12 x 14 foot pergola myself in about 12 hours.
