If you take apart a clutch, take this one!

I was stingy and didn't want to buy this, ended up breaking the outer clutch basket. A repair that costs ten times more than this tool. Highly recommended.

Pros
  • New
Cons
  • Protection

Some modification required

Depending on the size of the groove in the clutch basket, you can grind the front corner of this tool to get a better grip. After a bit of grinding, the tool stays in place while I tighten the nut to 108 ft-lbs. I don't know what the stretch rating is for unless it's the stretch width. Open jaws wide enough.

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Easily repairable

Used on a 1997 Yamaha XJ 600

I used this tool on a 1997 Yamaha XJ 600 seca 2. It worked well and held the clutch basket while I loosened the clutch bushing nut. I've also used it to tighten and tighten the clutch hub nut, also tighten and tighten the primary drive gear nut, and use this tool to hold the clutch basket while tightening. He did what I wanted and what I needed.

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • Basically OK but...

Works great after using a grinder

As mentioned the 'teeth' holding the clutch basket are too thick for most applications. I had to sand them down to fit my Tiger 800's basket. After that everything worked fine. You just have to make it tight enough to stay in the basket's grooves. If you have to force the handles together, you are using the tool incorrectly. This also worked on my old Royal Enfields.

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • I'll write back later

Fits perfectly on my 1978 RM250C clutch hub

Used it on my 1978 RM250C. No mods required. Holding the clutch basket in place, I slightly loosened the clutch hub nut. I tried a chain vise and it slipped under pressure and even started digging into the clutch details so I had to give up and buy the right tool. it was for me I'm hoping this works on my spur gear and mother and any other bikes I might need it for (1983 GL1100 - complete engine strip).

Pros
  • good stuff
Cons
  • I don't remember but there was some
