Will not fit two-piece rechargeable flashlights

I have three old, solid flashlights that use PR2 bulbs and nickel-cadmium batteries (the batteries are over 20 years old by the way, and they still are Work). Big). Two use C-cells, the other D-cells. I decided to "upgrade" them to LED bulbs and bought the 3v versions for them. Do they work? Yes. But the results are completely disappointing. These bulbs are "whiter" but dimmer than the already dim Maglite bulbs, and also don't "zoom" in the same way as the original (the originals never zoomed in at first). But for the price I am very satisfied and happy. It was a direct change; I unscrewed the cap, then the frame with the bulb, pulled out the old bulb, put in a new one…
