2004 Trialblazer Rough Idle/Misfires

My 2004 Trailblazer ran poorly. At low revs, the engine jerked at idle. I read online that it could be ignition coils. This was tested by removing the air box above the motor and disconnecting the cables attached to the coils. If disconnecting the cable affects the engine idling, the coil/connector is still good. I remove the cable and nothing changes, then it's the defective coil. I had 1 defective coil per 100,000 km. The cost for a replacement was $45, a set of 6 was about $75, so I bought a

Be sure to check the connection contacts.

Just installed these on my 2005 Trailblazer EXT LT. I had a slight error once or twice a minute. Almost as much as I wonder if this really happened. I decide to change the spark plugs at 165k miles (first time was at 100k) and since they were so reasonable I decided to go ahead and replace all 6 coils. Pros: The package arrived quickly. The coils appear to be identical to the original. The price was incredible. were loose packed with very little bubble wrap. Some of the connector pins were bent

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model

Very easy to install. Fit 2003 Trailblazer LTZ 6 Cylinder 4.2L AWD

Just give them a little shake while tightening. The 2 on the back are more difficult to make and the one on the front is also difficult because you have to tug on the wiring harness to make it pop out, but once it's out of the way it's easy to install. There are two screws to remove the main cover, two vent hoses to detach, and what appears to be a vacuum line. It took me less than 30 minutes to install. I work pretty fast so give yourself 1 hour. I used a 1 x 10mm socket with an extension butโ€ฆ

First of all, don't believe reviews that say it's junk or material that needs to be removed from the connectors. That's some nonsense. I'm a former GM engineer and I'm very sensitive to part tolerances. These coils are reverse engineered OEM Delphi coils. Identical with two exceptions. On Delphi coils, the rubber piece that houses the spark plug terminal is higher quality and has a stronger silicone base. Not a problem for a vehicle you keep for less than 8-10 years. The other difference isโ€ฆ

Update: you get what you pay for

Recommend these coils, I have a 2004 GMC Messenger. They've helped him walk more smoothly, not much more power or anything, but he's feeling better. I had a spool failure last year so I bought a replacement from O'Reilly for about $65, just a few bucks less than this entire 6 piece set. I know ideally you should replace them all together, but that would be around $400. So my 5 originals had 183,000 miles when I bought them. It cost $73 for this whole set. I've had them for about a week now soโ€ฆ
