Type of review

These are simply cheap unusable garbage that's exactly what I did after 30 minutes I put them in the trash don't bother keep looking

Pros
  • Heavy duty and very well constructed. Was pleasantly surprised to find blades in the unit.
Cons
  • The locking mechanism is prone to getting stuck and requires a lot of force to release

Craftsman Utility Knife

Knife came with no blade installed and two (2) spare blades though ad stated it came with three (3) blades!Otherwise knife appears well made.

Pros
  • Got the job done
Cons
  • Made in China, rough operation, slippery texture.

CRAFTSMAN NEEDS SOME QUALITY CONTROL

The retractor on one of the does not work because the opening the blade needs to come through is so narrow the blade doesn't fit. I threw it away. The other one is just okay. Does not extend fully.

Pros
  • Knives, Parts & Accessories
Cons
  • The blades are too flimsy and can bend easily

Awful way to change blades on these knives.

I like the red.Does a good job of retracting when the blade is not needed.I have a few Stanley box knives and love them.I love Craftsman tools but these are the hardest knives I have ever tried to replace the blades on.I’m cutting carpet. A bunch of precision cuts where I have to replace the blades after a few cuts. The Stanley knives take under a minute to unscrew, replace or flip, the blade and screw back up.These Craftsman knives unscrew fine but the blades are "stuck” in the retracting…

Pros
  • Easy to replace blades for convenience
Cons
  • The retractable blade mechanism can become stuck and difficult to move

TOTAL JUNK for my opinion

One was ok, one was NOT. The screw that held the two sides together was frozen into place, so trying to unscrew it eventually stripped the indentation where the screwdriver inserts, thus making things hopeless. This is not two-for-one. This is one-for-one, and therefore way overpriced compared to my much better Stanley. Bleah.------I've added this bit after Revain quickly replaced the items. Sure. enough, one of THOSE refused to cooperate, leading to another death struggle between the…

Pros
  • Saves time and effort on cutting projects
Cons
  • The grip does not provide enough support for the user’s hand

This not be a Craftsman product!

I tried adjusting the blade into the handle and found it very difficult to do. I said to myself this CAN'T be a Craftsman product. I checked and, sure enough, it was made in China. How can "they" keep making these knock-offs; what ever happened to "Copy Right Infringement?

Pros
  • Ideal for DIY home improvement tasks
Cons
  • The knives are not very durable and can break after only a few uses

Not like Craftsman used to be.

Finally got a replacement for my 10-year-old Craftsman utility knife. Replacing a blade on it is cumbersome. Thanks for attention!

Pros
  • Ergonomic grip for comfortable use
Cons
  • The plastic casing can become discolored and brittle over time

One of the cutters is unusable

Just received them. The blades come inside the cutter and you have to unscrew the screw to open to cutter in order to get the blade and install it. On one of the cutters, we were not able to open it because the screw was so tight and the screw ended up being stripped. Called Craftsman…Craftsman is sending a replacement!

Pros
  • Durable and reliable for heavy usage
Cons
  • The plastic casing can crack easily if dropped

Do NOT Buy: my feedback

They screwed in the two pieces so tightly that I could not unscrew to put a blade in without stripping the screws. Totally worthless.

Pros
  • Perfectly balanced for accurate cuts
Cons
  • The knives are not very lightweight and can be awkward to handle

You need a screwdriver to install the blades

I didn't realize you have to install the blade when you purchase this item. I had no tools so I had to borrow a screwdriver from someone else in order to use this box cutter. When this issue was solved, it worked fine.

Pros
  • I could not get the screw out to get to the blades. It is not sturdy and it is dificult to assemble.
Cons
  • Difficult insertion of razor.

Nearly impossible to put slide in

I'm a handy guy. Wasted 15 min of my life figuring out how to put the razor in. Never, ever going to take it out! Thanks for attention!

Pros
  • Easy to replace blades
Cons
  • The knives are not very versatile and can only be used for certain tasks

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Make it simpler to insert blade.

What I dislike about this product is the lack of instructions on inserting blade. It took a while but I finally figured it out.

Pros
  • Easy to clean and care for
Cons
  • The retractable blade mechanism is too fragile and prone to breaking

Revainrating 4 out of 5

I guess I got lucky

This 2-pack of sturdy metal utility knives is a good value and in my case, both knives were easy to set the blades, and the slider works well. Apparently, some reviewers were not so fortunate.

Pros
  • Three position retractable blade
Cons
  • The blades are not very sharp and require a lot of force to cut through materials

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Screw stripped right out of the package

Durability would be a zero out of the package the screw to open the utility knife to get the blades out is completely stripped so the utility knife is junk:

Pros
  • Precise blade adjustment allows for tailored cuts
Cons
  • The retractable blade mechanism can become rusty and difficult to move

Good for Interior Design Students

Bought this to cut foam core for my interior design classes. It works well but sometimes the switch gets stuck so the blade won’t come out completely. Other than that, it does what I need it to.

Pros
  • Patented interlocking nose to hold blade securely
Cons
  • The knives are not very versatile and can only be used for specific tasks

Looks and feels good. Not to hard to install blades.

So far so good. Looks and feels good. Will be putting them to work and see how they perform. Blades are not to hard to install.

Pros
  • Invaluable for woodworking projects
Cons
  • The blades are not very efficient and require multiple cuts to complete a task

DON'T BUY: Both knives defective

I am a tool person. I remember when "Craftsman" meant the finest tools. They have been sold, and the quality is not as much, but I still bought this pair thinkingthey should be pretty good. Wrong.I am a woodworker and living space designer. After spending 20 minutes trying to get the little wire mechanism that just pops out of place, that holds the cutting blade, to accept a blade and then allow the other half of the assemblyto be screwed back on, I threw them out.I have better things to do than…

Pros
  • Craftsmanship ensures durability
Cons
  • The knives are not suitable for cutting through thicker materials

Craftsman Has Become Pretty Cheap in the Bad Way

Cheaply made and flimsy, it's hard to believe this is made by Craftsman. There are no directions on the package as to how to put the blades in and get it to work. A lot of wasted time figuring out this cheap trash actually works because it falls apart when it's unscrewed and there isn't a minimal suggestion on how to get the thing to slide. It is really a crummy tool.

Pros
  • Hand Tools
Cons
  • The retractable blade mechanism is difficult to operate with one hand

Revainrating 4 out of 5

They seem good best in my review

They’re ok, bought them for my job & had difficulty getting it to go back together properly after inserting the base. Other that it works fine so far

Pros
  • Prevents unnecessary hand strain with ergonomic design
Cons
  • The retractable blade mechanism can become loose and dangerous to use

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Hard to load good for me

Sending these back. Loading a utility knife isn’t a hard task! Internal mechanism bent. I’m not paying for something I need to fix.

Pros
  • Reduces the risk of accidents during use
Cons
  • The knives are not very user-friendly and require a lot of practice to use effectively
