This is a great companion camera for outdoor use.

I bought this camera about a year and a half ago mainly for photos taken from the kayak. I have taken over 1000 shots with this camera and have not been disappointed in its performance. It was in a duck ambush, in a pheasant field, in the ocean for underwater photography, and on a ski hill during snow storms. Holds up well and takes good pictures. Failed on my second underwater trip

I bought this camera in August 2009, just after it was launched. The intention was to use it while snorkeling in the Caribbean on a cruise. As instructed, I soaked it in fresh water after use and dried it thoroughly before opening the battery cover. At the moment I'm still happy. Took camera again to use on a Western Caribbean cruise in Januaryโ€ฆ

Pros
  • 12.1 megapixel resolution gives enough detail for poster size prints
Cons
  • This makes me angry

I took a chance and ordered this Lumix six weeks before it was released because it claimed to be not only a waterproof camera but also an HD camcorder. I've had it for a few months now and really abused it. It's been dropped, crushed and soaked more times than I care to admit. On my last walk while filming the video, I droppedโ€ฆ
