Description of 🔧 Park Tool SBC-1: Accurate Spoke, Bearing, and Cotter Gauge for Ultimate Precision

A convenient aid for confirming the size of common bicycle parts. Fit the head of the spoke in the oblong hole and read its length on the easy to read scale. Holes in the centre of the gauge are used for sizing ball bearings and cotter pins.

The easiest way to measure spoke length

Online spoke calculators are not always easy to use. Using a vernier caliper to measure hubs and correctly determine the ERD can be error prone. The easiest way is to simply detach the spoke from the rim and measure it with this tool. A metal ruler with both imperial and metric measurements will also come in handy.

Pros
  • Robust construction
Cons
  • Low maintenance

Protects my privacy good for spokes and parts

I bought this ruler to measure ball bearings on a beach cruiser I was repairing for this girl I was talking to. I obviously didn't want to buy a brand new bike, just Wheel Barons fix everything to say this is great. I really appreciated being able to measure ball bearings and fix broken smoke and get them the right size. All in all, this ruler could have saved my love life

Pros
  • Comfortable to use
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

I love this dipstick but wish it was made.

I like this dipstick but wish it was steel instead of aluminum. It looks like it will break in the near future. And because it's aluminum, it will become weak when bent in one direction and will likely break if you try to bend it back. Also, all the notches are difficult to read as they are the same color as the rest of the ruler. It would be better if they used a contrasting color like white or black for all notches.

Cons
  • It's OK

Good start but needs work

Working. as if. I took several batches of spokes that I bought as 265mm and they were marked as such. They all measured 263 mm with this gauge. The addition of a ball bearing gauge is interesting, but for a tool designed for "spokes," a spoke gauge would be far more useful (not to mention simplicity). The main problem with this sensor is the same as with all parking tools. I rubbed the yellow color into the engravings on the front of the instrument which was a big improvement.

Simple and accurate.

Excellent gauge for measuring spokes and bearings. This is useful when mounting wheels and servicing bearings (e.g. hub rebuilds), especially when servicing multiple bikes. I've accidentally mixed up spokes before and this gauge makes picking them apart quick and painless. I compared the measurements from this tool with a very high precision caliper and this gauge is very accurate. The only reason I'm giving it one star is because it's a little hard to read. I want the numbers and labels to be…

Great bike tool - bearing and spoke length gauge

I use mine to fix cheaper rear and front bike hubs. The hub bearing is a replacement for the free-floating bearing, and bikes often use different sized bearings depending on the front or rear axle. The device can be used for anyone who needs to "measure" a bearing to purchase the correct size replacement. This device is available in 1/8, 5/32, 3/16, 7/32 and 1/4 bores. just lower the stock until you find the right size. SAE is on the right and metric bearing sizes MM 8, 8.5, 9, 9.5 are on the…

Poor embossing quality and legibility

I've been a cyclist for almost 40 years with a decent home business. I have always bought Park Tools for the items I know I will use more than once. Make no mistake, Park Tools IS the benchmark for bike tools. However, some items are better than others, this is an example. The quality of the ruler is satisfactory at best, and the quality of the embossing is the biggest issue. The pin holes are notched, and the corners of the ruler are sharp and slightly deformed. The entire line has a sharp…
