Bad replacement

I bought this for my 1996 Club Car DS, it doesn't fit because: 1. The size of the plug is different and it requires adding a jumper to convert the plug.2. The shape is different and requires drilling and tapping a new mounting hole.3. The hole for the mounting screw is too small and requires drilling a larger hole. After these issues are fixed, everything works fine.

Pros
  • Best in niche
Cons
  • The list will be long.

FS290V Kawasaki - Spare parts

Got a free SRX and needed a lot of work. I knew the first thing needed was a whole new ignition system. JD wants $80 for this part for my engine, WOW! It looked like an OEM, although it was probably made by another manufacturer. I get 100% Spark after installation, which is why I give this alternative 5 stars for fit and functionality. We'll see how long this lasts, but I could buy 4 of these for the price of 1 JD!

Pros
  • Doping πŸ”₯
Cons
  • Some errors

Fast shipping, great price, spark problem fixed!

The device has a tiny protruding connector. See photo, the old one on the right has a plug with the right size protrusion, this one on the left isn't even tight and crooked to boot. Much smaller than standard and I had to modify the terminal to make it work. Make sure the igniter body is grounded to the unit with the metal mounting screw. Note that there were no leads, just a detonator.

Expensive and essential

I spent over $800 repairing a lawnmower last fall. When I called the repair shop this spring, I asked him if any part of his repair would fail, if he would stand up for his job. The answer was no, just a 30 day guarantee, so after a few months I diagnosed the problem myself. Of course I needed a new Igniter ignition module. It took a few minutes to replace this part and the mower started right away. From now on I do the repair myself, it was easy after understanding how the machine works. I…

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers

Start within 10 minutes.

This replaces a John Deere part no. AM132770 by a F525 zero turn mower (Kawasaki PA540A engine) after two hot start episodes became a 20ft mower problem after the next mowing. I cleaned the ignition module and coil pads to ensure a good ground and replaced the coil with a gap. But the mower still had weak spark and started for nothing (starter fluid etc.). I installed this new module and the mower started on the first try. FWIW I used an oscilloscope to capture the signal on the primary and…

Problem fixed - or maybe not

Ordered this igniter for my 30 year old JD 170 lawn mower because one day it wouldn't start. The test has shown that there is no spark. Studies have shown that the problem can be either in the igniter or in the coil. Resistance characteristics found on both and the igniter failed these tests while the coil passed. I ordered this after the sale to make sure it would solve my problem as it was 1/3 the cost of an OEM igniter with the idea that if it didn't solve it I'd spend less money trying to…
