Runs a little small, good for men

I'm 5-11, 175, 33" waist and medium is a bit tight. You may want to increase the size. Also, these shorts have a "unisex" feel where it matters most, if you get me. The combined effect of the small size and lack of fixtures is somewhat inconvenient. On a positive note the padding is just right, not too much and not too little for my cycling purposes.

Pros
  • Active
Cons
  • Low serviceability

After reading the reviews, be aware that these are people who wear three shorts! Minimal padding because you will swim in it! In addition, the size is large. I'm about 5ft 9 inches tall, 140 pounds, 29 waist and skinny legs. Stretchy shorts, medium size was too big, had to order a small size.

Pros
  • Elastic drawstring for maximum comfort and fit
Cons
  • Not sure

24 hour adventure race tested

I wore them to the 24 hour adventure race and loved it. I was worried my butt would get too sore after 90+ miles of cycling, but it didn't look any worse than I expected in fully lined cycling shorts. They endured more than 30 miles of hiking in this race without chafing or discomfort. I put on the UA boxer shorts underneath, because without them I felt the seam of the padding on my skin and didn't want to risk any irritation at such a distance.

Pros
  • SELECT Transfer Dry fabric sets the benchmark for compression, comfort and moisture wicking
Cons
  • Crumpled

Good men's shorts

I have several pairs of PI cycling shorts. These are different. The material is thin and more like spandex. It differs from cycling shorts. I used them in my first sprint triathlon. I used them in pre-triathlon cycling classes and also ran in them on the treadmill. NO friction or poor fit issues. I can't speak to their comfort at a longer event but they were good for my purpose. I guess for a longer event (Ironman) you might need a higher level short. However, they are perfect for my sprint

Pros
  • 88% nylon, 12% lycra, elastane
Cons
  • Definitely bad product

Streamline Pearl Izumi Shorts

I've been riding 150+ miles a week in Pearl Izumi shorts for years. I thought I would use them for my triathlon sprint. First: the padding is very minimal, fine for swimming, quite thin for my 20+ miles on the bike. Second, the padding isn't as good as their cycling shorts. No problems so far but I bet they won't last that long. Fit: I'm 5'10", weight 190 pounds, waist 32, about 10 percent body fat. The drawcord makes for an extra slim waist for swimming. Sure helps with drag and drop. Love…

Pros
  • Quick-drying TRI suede for comfort on the bike without interfering with your run
Cons
  • Good overall, but...
