Pelican 1630 Camera Case: Foam & Padded Dividers, Multiple Colors Available Review

I shipped my iMac and used a Pelican 1630 case with Pick n' Pluck foam. My iMac arrived in very good condition with no scratches or broken parts. I love Pelican Falls. You can rely on them.

I use this as a computer to carry from my house to our church. This bad boy is a beast. It weighs a ton, but I could count on this case falling from a considerable height and not harming my computer. So that's exactly what we need to protect.

I needed something big enough for the compact Bose L1 bass module. It's perfect for when you turn it on its side. I also have enough space for a couple of Epson projectors, various cables and adhesive tape. I bought another Pelican case to carry the vertical speakers.

Although the shipping box was damaged (as warned), the case was in good condition and had all the expected strength characteristics of a Pelican case. I wanted something with room for tool padding but was still a little overwhelmed by the size and especially the weight of this case (41 lbs). Combine the weight of the suitcase and the 45-50 pounds of tools that fit in it and it becomes almost too much to load in my car and the cost of air travel is prohibitive.

For the last 5 months I have shipped a delicate tech demonstrator across North America with this case in checked baggage, FedEx plane and FedEx ground. I saw him fall off the baggage carousel at the cargo door of an airplane (thanks, Delta!) and slide out of a crowded hotel van. Neither my demo nor the hull itself was damaged. Good case. Very durable. I used it to store and transport an expensive telescope. Pelican cases are the Cadillac of storage cases and can withstand airline abuse.
