Perfect 36102 Gelcoat Compound Fluid_Ounces Review

Ok, I would like to start by saying that I have a lot of oxidation on my black gelcoat. I've used this with a variable speed charging polisher and a wool pad. It works. I gave 4 stars instead of 5 because I had to hit 3 times in some places. I have a 22 foot boat and I used about 3/4 of a bottle. You will need to supplement this with at least one other wax product to maintain the shine. I used kollinite wax and now my boat looks fine.

I used this with a 7 inch wool pad and DA polisher. It easily knocked out the oxidation. Then I applied Meguiar Heavy Cut to a 5 inch foam cutting pad to bring back some of the shine. Finished with Meguiar polish and then waxed. The 3M Compound definitely cuts more than the Meguiar and helps a bit. I have PLENTY left and I expect it to last for years. Since I have a small ski boat I think it would be easier for me with a 5 inch wool mat.

I have used other brands of cutting compound/deoxidizer with mixed results. My 2012 boat gelcoat was badly oxidized and faded from the Florida sun (and my carelessness). One application of 3M Perfect It Heavy Oxidation Cutting Paste restored the color and shine and exceeded my expectations. The finish has been enhanced with 3M polishing paste and a coat of wax paste. Everything except the wax paste was applied using a DeWalt 5" battery buffer with foam cutting and buffing pads.

I have no complaints about this product, I have used it on my lobster boat, the hull has not been waxed for 2 years, the tops 4 years, very heavy oxidation, it is the 3M product left the body and tops looking new then I applied the 3M wax and was amazed at the results. This is an expensive product but trust me after trying some of these new wonder waxes that didn't do what they said they did and cost what this product was worth and I have enough left over to pick it up next year to use again on

Not impressed, I've used several products over the last few years and wanted to replace some of my heavy compounds. This material will not even remove scratches from 2000-1800 grit wet sanding. Gelcoat returned virtually no gloss. I gave the bottle a good shake and switched the buffing pads from the slowest to medium speed. This material was more of a cream than a paste. I went back to total buff and buff magic in some test areas. It's just disappointing to know that 3m used to have a great…
