very nice and sharp

I bought this for my wife so that when we go to the steakhouse she would have a very sharp knife to cut the steaks instead of the dull ones the steakhouse is stocked with.

Pros
  • great selection
Cons
  • boring packaging

Suitable for lunch and travel

Bought for use at work when eating in brown lunch bags. Also, see how it's used when traveling... just don't take it on the plane. Leave it in your luggage. It comes out of the box and is robust for its size and price. Would buy again.

Pros
  • Also understandable for older people
Cons
  • No insurance

It is very good. for cutlery and knife accessories

This knife is not made of high quality steel but for the price it is worth the money. It has a good edge but doesn't hold as well as other knives I have. If you're not too picky, this is a good gentleman's knife and a decent travel knife.

Pros
  • cool product
Cons
  • some cons

It's unavoidable! suitable for cutlery and knife accessories

This is not to avoid Higo Nokami, they are very similar but not that expensive and not made in Japan from VG10. That doesn't make them bad knives. Just no elite cutlery at a bargain price. There were people who tried to pass off Kai as an evasive maneuver. Buyer beware

Pros
  • Expensive but decent
Cons
  • There are problems

Pretty but smaller than expected

Although the size of the knife is listed for potential buyers, I recommend getting a ruler and checking the actual size before ordering. Surprised by the small size of the knife. Also, I wasn't expecting cheap plastic packaging. Judging by the price, the photos and the description, I expected a higher class.

Pros
  • Impressive
Cons
  • Volume

Stainless alternative to expensive carbon

My friend has a Shun, he was bragging about it. I had to get it to show it on the price tag. The handle material is different, but the real difference between the two is that Kia is made of 420 stainless steel while Shun is made of carbon steel. High carbon steel will hold an edge better. Stainless steel is slightly softer and therefore dulls more quickly. But it is also very easy to sharpen. So save $70 and remember to sharpen your Kia knife every few times.

Pros
  • Finally bought
Cons
  • Clarity

Awesome Personal Steak Knife

I have both the Shun 5900 and the KAI 5700 and I have to say at $30 this is a great little knife to put in your pocket to take to the BBQ take with you or hide in your stash. Equipment for this campfire cooking session. It's sharp, not "razor sharp" or sharp like a chef's knife, but sharp enough to quickly slice through any piece of meat in front of you. The polymer grip gives this shotgun a toughness that gives you the confidence to take it places you might not want to take the Shun with theโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Sequin
Cons
  • I vaguely remember
