aha! you heard right! I use the collar as a decoration. I ordered a large one which was only around $3 at the time of purchase and I was amazed! for the quality and durability of this metal at this price. I can't tell you how it will affect your dog, but it seems to me to be quite heavy and sturdy, at a level that the cheap chains people are promoting can't match at this price point here on Amazon. I like it!

This chain is by no means 26" long! Barely 24"! My 106 lbs. The pup, a Pyrenean St. Bernard mix, wears a 24" chain but could benefit from a more comfortable fit. The finer chains, 3-5mm, are very harsh on fine or double coat and end up pulling hair out and causing tangles and shedding in the neck area. I didn't buy this for my dog because the choke chains are humane but I bought it for my partner. Looks very cute on them when they need to be walked and exercised on a leash. The product works fine. It's heavy, good material and durable. I'll probably have it for years to come.

I have an Amstaff mix that has a fairly large neck. Her old chain was too tight, especially when trying to take it off. I have this collar and although it is a bit big it does the job. I think this model's size is closer to 25 inches than 22 inches, but it's well built and doesn't seem to pinch any hair or skin.
