Suitable, but the smell is not greatly reduced. I suspect the real problem might be that there's a giant gaping hole with a valve for the cat to get in and out of (although it would be pretty useless without it). So putting charcoal in another hole is unlikely to help much.

I only use them in the litter box and they work very well. I also use them to remove musty smells from other items. I seal one in a tin or plastic container with the item and it always works, sometimes after a few days and always after a few weeks. Good product!

Initially I was pleased with the quick and easy ordering and delivery. But when I finally opened the box, it wasn't what I was hoping for: Yes, the packaging says "Jumbo," but it's only 6.22 x 6.10. I need a rectangular size 10 x 7.3. On the Petmate website they show a "jumbo" filter of this size. Revain's website and seller do not list sizes.
