My cats aren't big fans.

Unfortunately, my cat wasn't a big fan of this rug. In fact, he preferred to scratch the wall and carpet! I had to buy standard cardboard scratching posts to keep him off the wall and carpet as he didn't like the carpet. He tried the rug several times and subsequently avoided it. I think it's because it's hard but flexible like a carpet. So it doesn't give my cat enough stability to grab or hold while she scratches. This rug doesn't stay on the floor!

When this mat arrived I took it out of the box and packaging, it has a crease down the middle so it doesn't lay flat because it took so long to fold for shipping. I thought if I put something heavy on it it would flatten out, but not yet. I put it on the floor for my cat (we have carpet) and at first she just looked at it and after 5-10 minutes she came up and started scratching it, I was so happy! Nothing supernatural. but it's durable and she loves it!

This sisal scratch block is a lot thicker than I thought it would be. It's also harder. The scratching surface is very tightly woven, which surprised me. I'm sure sisal will last a long time. The edge stitching isn't as thick and it feels like there should be some excess at the corners where a twist needs extra material. Does this piping prevent the woven sisal from fraying?
