🚿 Pfister 974291 Replacement Component Review

The shower valve started to turn difficult. So I asked my buddy how hard it would be to fix the mixing valve, he said it wouldn't be difficult. I bought the item and went to her. After shutting off the water and relieving the pressure, the work was completed in 20 minutes. So it is the right part and easy to replace.

The first bought lasted a year. When you turn on the water from another device, water drips from the shower head. So I bought another one in March. Now when you turn on hot water from another device it drips out of the shower head again, not much so I'll live with that until it gets really bad and it only happens when hot water is used. Next time I will probably buy a branded product.

Recently ordered. Mine stopped producing cold water and the water was too hot so I ordered this one. Now this new one I installed sends little hot water, something in it was messed up and the shower was always cold or tepid. I had to turn it upside down to get hotter than cold and now it works, but instead of turning the knob further for hot water, I have to turn it further for cold water. Would send it back if I had another shower in the house.

Our shower faucet was only providing hot water and after 22 years of use the compensating valve got stuck in the cartridge. Very easy to fix. The water supply to the house had to be shut off and the control valve dismantled. The tools needed for mine were just a small flathead screwdriver and a #2 Phillips screwdriver. It took about 15 minutes total, including going down to the basement to turn the water on and off. Why pay a plumber for this?
