Low Volume: Receiver and Amplifier

Such a poor quality amplifier. I can't understand why it has 4 stars. Very low volume. The setting must be at 75% before you can hear anything. I sent mine back the next day.

Pros
  • Always liked
Cons
  • Functionality

Very happy with this stereo receiver

Very happy with this stereo receiver, 45 watts per channel is more than enough for my old DLK 3 tweeters and DLK Supertweets in a&b speaker mode (all four speakers on). I had to buy a preamp for my old Phillips 677 (1980) turntable because the receiver's inputs don't have a separate "phono" input. Older receivers with "phono" inputs had a built-in preamp. The Bluetooth is excellent, works great with my Apple I-Pad, the sound is amazingly clear and the connection was effortless. Great bang for…

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance

Pioneer let me down

One of the first amps we ever had was a Pioneer and we've had it for many, many years. I was hoping this new block would be just as good. It's not like this. For some reason, if we listen to something for more than an hour, the amp just turns off. It turns off completely. If we try to turn it back on, it turns off again. It's been like this for a while. The next time we use it, it runs for about an hour and turns off again. It's so frustrating because we really love listening to our music…

Good Receiver 2.1 Basic

Purchased to replace a Pioneer Elite A-20 that failed in less than 60 days. I just needed something to guide me through the return process. Pleasantly surprised, not a monster by any means, but enough appeal for my medium sized living room. I like the subwoofer and Bluetooth, although using Bluetooth you really have to turn up the volume. The P-Bass function works well, you kind of have to stumble across it as it's not in the manual. All in all, a decent performer for people with realistic…

Didn't last 6 months!

At first I was amazed by the performance of this speaker. Yes, as other reviews have said, you need to increase the value to get good sound quality. I bought a subwoofer and bookshelf speakers. They worked well and suddenly after the volume went past 50 they started cutting. I tried playing around with the settings but after a few seconds at higher volume it just turned off. I cannot return this product but luckily I have taken out an insurance package. I am sending it back for repair and can…

Pros
  • Easy installation
Cons
  • Out of fashion

Bad sound quality.

Update from 01/10/21: Well, it only works for me for a few days, and the device started to tear more and more. Sometimes it stops playing entirely and I have to turn it off and on again. The device is obviously defective and I am sending it back for a refund. The search continues for a sub-$200 receiver that produces decent sound quality and actually works. REVIEW: For the price, this receiver gets the job done. However, the old Sherwood it replaced would shake the walls in my garage at 3/4…

Pros
  • Inspires trust
Cons
  • Dubious purchase for seniors

Reviews on this item are a joke

I first bought this because of a simple option: OUTPUT Jacks IE: They appear to be actual outputs. However, they are not, yes. Sound comes out of them, but it's not volume controlled. Bought as a preamp. Second, I thought, okay, if something else works, it might cost $170. Third, the tone controls are terrible and only degrade the output sound. You can actually hear sound distortion. Fourth, this ad says NOTHING about the 20% restocking fee. Although I read it on the return label. If I am…

Pros
  • New to my collection
Cons
  • Low repairability

Slightly disappointed

This receiver was a replacement for a Pioneer receiver from the 90's. A pair of Sony bookshelf speakers would shake the whole neighborhood. I've had this stereo since I was a kid and one day it just wouldn't turn on. Shortly thereafter I bought this receiver as a replacement because I needed good music in my life. First I connected everything and was excited for my first song. It doesn't seem to be working. So I checked all the connections and tried again. To find out, you need to turn up the…
