Poor workmanship Good for bike computers

I had my first one about 10 years ago and it still works great. I bought a second one this year for my new second bike. After a short time, the speed display went back to zero many times while cycling. Sometimes I had to adjust the computer on the mount to make it work. Now I have another problem, all readings are back to zero except time and total distance when I stop to take a break. My wife has the same problem with the 9.0 I bought her this year. So it can't be a coincidence. Obviously…

Cycle computer Basic

The Planet Bike Protege 5 has been around for many years. I owned three of these. It displays the information the average cyclist needs: current speed, ride time, distance traveled, odometer and clock. However, only four are shown at a time. A quick slide of the device forward in its cradle reveals a fifth. Installing Protege is easy. Attach the handlebar mount, route the cable, attach the sensor to the front fork, attach the magnet to the wheel so that its proximity is within 2-5mm of the…

Bike Planet Bike Protege 5.0 "Computer " (Speedometer)

First the good: 1. The display is wonderful. Tells you what you want, clearly and with plenty of choice.2. Installation is the usual headache, but the instructions are adequate.3. The same applies to the setting of display functions.4. The workmanship seems to be very good and it does what it should. Now for the bad: 1. It failed in less than 60 days and it wasn't the battery. Revain has a 30-day return policy, so no help here. I have emailed Planet Bike the manufacturer but no response yet. 2.

More information at a glance and a simpler interface than others.

I have had several PB Protege computers. I like the interface more than any other - it displays 4-5 dates at a time, which greatly reduces the number of options you have to scroll through while trying to follow a road or path. 5.0 scrolls just two options: the current time and odometer on the bottom row (while current speed, ride time, and distance traveled are shown on the top three rows). Simple and idiotic proof. I bought this for my folding bike which is a KISS setup that includes only…
