Good for measurements that require an accuracy of 0.5mm

Accuracy down to 0.25mm. The problem is that they are plastic and the measuring faces can wear out over time. Use them for measurements that require no more than 0.5mm accuracy and you will be satisfied. The price is great, and the idea of making them out of plastic rather than stealing brings the price down quite a bit. Of course, the service life is not as long as that of stainless steel counterparts, but for measurements in the workshop and at home, which do not require ultra-precise…

Measures both OD and ID

I was pleasantly surprised that it measures both ID and OD! Accurate for a plastic caliper - I'd say 1/32 inch accuracy or 1/2 mm accuracy if using the metric side. This is normal for my purposes (measuring hoses and pipes). Product description says 1/128 inch accuracy - kidding. Yes, you can use the vernier scale on this caliper for more accuracy, but it's not easy. You can watch this video to learn how to do it: https://youtu.be/vkPlzmalvN4 (If Revain removes the link, just go to YouTube and…

If accuracy is not critical

I have a few in my carpentry shop to measure wood thickness, hole depth etc. The millimeter side is easy to read but I wouldn't use a vernier scale either. Seriously. It says up to 0.05mm. If you need that kind of accuracy, get out your dial or digital caliper. On the inch side, most 1/4" and 1/2" calipers are slightly longer for easier reading. It doesn't, so it's a little harder to read. I have to count steps to know where I am. This is one of the reasons I prefer mm for comparisons etc…
