I have a few in my carpentry shop to measure wood thickness, hole depth etc. The millimeter side is easy to read but I wouldn't use a vernier scale either. Seriously. It says up to 0.05mm. If you need that kind of accuracy, get out your dial or digital caliper. On the inch side, most 1/4" and 1/2" calipers are slightly longer for easier reading. It doesn't, so it's a little harder to read. I have to count steps to know where I am. This is one of the reasons I prefer mm for comparisons etc. Also, it's easier to divide and add in the metric system. I still don't understand why we don't use the metric system like the rest of the world. Maybe it's because it was invented in France and not in the US.
