Description of Poly Welder Polyethylene Welding Strips

These LDPE polyethylene strips are 12" long and approximately 1/16" thick and 3/8" wide. The colors of these strips will match many applications like plastic water tanks, canoes and kayaks. Can be used to repair most water tanks like Norwesco, Poly-Mart, Ace, Snyder, Dura-cast, etc. Also used to repair windshield washer bottles, radiator overflow tanks, ATV fenders, watercraft. Use to repair motor home water tanks, dirt bike fenders, gas tanks and agricultural water tanks.

It worked the first time I tried

I used an 800 watt plastic welder hooked up to my 4 psi air compressor. I welded an irregularly shaped crack onto the gas tank of a Yamaha off-road bike that was about 2mm wide and 40mm long along the shaped edge. Using hot air from a welding torch, I heated the end of the crack and got a 2-3mm section shiny (i.e. soft, ready to melt) on both sides. I placed this strip directly on the edge of the soft area and pressed down, curling the strip along the tear and then simply running a heat gun…

worked for me It takes a little practice.

Finished on a transparent polymer water tank. I used a small butane microtorch (it was a bit windy that day so didn't help) to heat it up as it was the only thing I had on hand. This wasn't the best option as I think a heat gun, perhaps with a tinfoil "nozzle" to create less airflow, would have worked better. Clean crack and possibly mow. Heat the part to be repaired and slightly in the direction of the strip, it will become slightly transparent when it reaches the right temperature. Place the…

How to successfully weld plastic.

Poly Welder Pro Sweatbands - 5ft (Black) I purchased black LDPE strips, not green or white. I have an old RV with black low density polyethylene storage tanks for black and gray water. The key to successfully welding the plastic of any of these tanks is to figure out what they are made of. In most cases, the recycle symbol on the tank, usually a triangle with a number, indicates what it's made of. To successfully weld plastic, you must use a filler wire that is the same density as the tank or a
