The coiled portion will do, but there should be enough straight pieces at each end to connect the handset and desk phone. The straight part is missing.

The cable received does not fit the VVX501/510. It is not an OEM cable and does not even fit Polycom VVX. As you can see in my picture the wire is not long enough to fit in the line. In the second picture you can see it with the original OEM cable that came with the phone. It's a little over half the length of the original and is black rather than dark grey. But the most important thing for me is that it doesn't fit in the cable channel so you have to use two hands every time you move the phone
