Definitely improves swing strength

This is my second set of practice balls since I bought a lighter set last year. I use this with both our recreational and travel teams. Our boys, already at 9 and 10 years old, noticeably know how to make contact to gain strength, they know how to dribble. I only use the reds of these as I know they will evolve eventually, but the oranges and blacks are just too heavy right now.

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Out of style

Definitely encourages and enhances the full backswing. Also, my son will be able to grow to heavier balls. It won't run batsmen home. This will encourage hard drives to full swings and to understand the position of the ball on the racquet and the location of the best spot on the racquet. A ball that is not properly hit will not move more than 5 feet.

Pros
  • Best in its niche

  • Not bad, but...

Great for backyard shooting practice

Great for backyard shooting practice. I can stealthily throw the ball while standing in the middle of the street while my 11 year old son sends the ball back to me. We lost so many tennis and whistle balls over the fence and it was a great decision. I also used them for a soft shot at the net, but due to their weight they work great on the street. After doing reps at home every day for a week, my son snatched regular baseball on the field tonight.

Good quality, suitable for home use

Bought for my 5 year old son to practice at home. We don't always have time to go to the park so these weighted balls are the perfect solution for my son to practice gardening at home without worrying about balls flying over the walls into neighboring yards. In the last few days of training with these balls, I've noticed that my son can hit real balls harder and further. He likes to watch his progress. The balls come well packaged with a carry bag and a sheet with a suggested training plan…

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging

Gym Equipment Practice

I rarely write reviews but I think this is a useful product. I coach the 10U travel team and we never have much time for practice and reps, especially with the rain we've had. I think these balls are a useful tool, especially before the game. Heavy balls don't travel far, so you don't need a lot of space. Boys/girls can also throw themselves forward without coach intervention; while throwing bp etc. Just make sure they intercept the balls in a line and not in a big arc. After all, almost…

Using weighted balls is a great way to get younger racquets swinging.

We saw them this spring at the high profile 13U BB tournament, which featured one of Illinois' top teams. We used (and still do) 15oz TCBs, but they add a higher level of difficulty. Using weighted balls is a great way to get younger racquets swinging in practice. It's too early to determine strength, but they work well. (Please be careful with the metal bats. You may break them. We use a wooden bat to hit them) Team, during the 2-hour wait to play the highly acclaimed 10U team in the…
