I rarely leave negative comments, but this is an exception! I recently purchased these ice scoops for my ice cream maker. First I washed them and they became dull and pitted! I don't know what the shovels were covered with, but I won't use them!

Turns dark gray after washing. It should not be eaten at all. This defeats the purpose of the purchase in the first place. Either they must have a disclaimer from above not to use them with food. The high 4 star rating is very disappointing and misleading.

All the silver was gone in the first wash! Now they are dark grey, like unpolished industrial alloys. I can't trust them to scoop ice - I'm afraid of metal fragments and chemicals used in processing. Avoid this cheap, poorly made product if you have health concerns for your family, friends, and yourself!

As I can see from the photos now, I am one of many who have been sent molded tin buckets labeled 'Cast Aluminum'. They are really not the same as in the photo and cheaply made. The handle is a tin cylinder and is spot welded to the bucket, which is also made of tin. It has stainless steel on the end of the handle.

I bought these 12 ounce ice scoops for my 5 year old daughter to use in the sandpit. They are the perfect size for that. We wanted to stay away from plastic as plastic degrades quickly under our Arizona sun and the plastic sand toys we bought last summer were ripped to pieces. They no longer shine, but they are not needed for our purposes. They are strong enough and I expect they will outlast my grandchildren.

I bought these a few years ago, I only looked at them because a lot of Thanksgiving guests have asked where to buy them. I was blown away by some of these reviews. Of course, polished aluminum turns ugly gray in the dishwasher. Dish soap is a nasty thing. I wouldn't recommend them for chemicals like road deicers either. If you add some moisture, the chemical will react with the aluminum. They make great ice scoops and I think they work well with any non-aggressive dry product. For chemicals…

I bought these as tablespoons for a party. They are inexpensive and look a bit cheap. Nothing more to say, so I'll get to the pros and cons.
