I bought this for a 1999 Volkswagen Jetta that was missing the whole part. The dealer asked $500 for the same part, including labor. This jumped to $700 when the motor needed replacing, which I think it did. I got this part and motor for about $80. There is only one way to mount the motor on the arm. Looking at the car from the front, the lower arm goes over the nut. So the small 3" or other arm is parallel to the ground with the bottom arm extended with it. Start the engine first if it's new. Do all this outside of the car except start the new engine, easy plug in the wiper and start, then turn off the wiper and start the engine in its original position.
