🐾 Pride Pet Doors Rubber Replacement Assembly for Improved Pet Door Functionality Review

This is a great replacement for the Johnson 1:1 door. This winter 2019-2020 I saved some money on my utility bills with this door. I was a happy "pup" when I noticed that the door has magnets to keep the door assembly from slamming shut in the wind. It really seals up when my dog comes in from the backyard.

Ideal for extra large Johnson dog door. I had a brand new Johnson replacement but wanted to make sure it was the perfect replacement before installing the Johnson. Installed this instead. No pruning is required. Hardware not included. Matching screws and wing nuts picked up at a hardware store for less than $2.50.

Heavy rubber stays in place despite high winds and rain. Please note that with prolonged exposure to the sun it will warp, lose elasticity and no longer close tightly which is why I had to purchase this replacement. But it's remained malleable for a number of years, so the high price tag represents pretty good value over the long run.

Ordered to replace a Johnson pet door cover. This is a much thicker flap than the old Johnson flap and slightly larger so it wouldn't fit properly without some significant modifications including cutting 1/4 inch from the bottom of the flap. The result was good but it was so frustrating that I would have just replaced the entire door if I knew it wasn't the same size.

Contrary to what is said about the Johnson Pet Door replacement, the length and width are slightly different (after my dog walks through it, it rarely closes that well). I have it from my house to my garage then there is another dog door to the back yard. Poor sealing isn't as critical as a dog door that goes straight, but that's bad enough. I have 2 dogs (one is 160lbs and the other is 50lbs) that use this dog door every day. I installed this door in March 2015 and about six months ago (October 2016) the U shaped wing started to fall off and shortly after that the outer wing started to peel off.
