I used them to make a stand for wire and steel pipe. I plug a 1/2" IMC into 3/4" steel connectors that I drilled and tapped to use for the line to attach to the pipe as legs. It's a lot cheaper than what you can find at any hardware store. I couldn't find them in my local HD either. I'd love to order the ones that have shoulders just for depth and support, but that's not a big deal for my purposes.
