Absolutely ordinary phono stage. There are no lamps here. You can take the same pro-ject for 2 times cheaper, and the sound will be the same. Increasing gain just makes it heavier, not better.

You will be charged a restocking fee if you try to return it. I hooked it up once, thinking it wasn't an upgrade and decided to return it. I figured since this preamp was sold at Revain the 30 day return window would be the usual and it would be a 'safe' purchase. Not this case. It's not the best product for the money and it costs $40 just to try it.

This little Pro-Ject phono stage sounds great! I used some sort of DJ Pre II phono stage which I think is very good value and practically unmatched for the price. But I had Revain gift certificates in my pocket. I did a lot of reading before buying the Tube Box S2 as I wasn't too disappointed with the Art DJ Pre II.
