Deception 20 gauge!

I bought this because it was described as "professional quality, durable". All the reviews and replies said it's 16 gauge wire, it's 20 gauge wire with minimal insulation! Absolutely not suitable for underground longevity. I rented a trencher for the weekend and got this crappy wire delivered today. I am stuck!

  • Very good value for money

Easier to install than 20 gauge wire

This wire is easier to install than the smaller wire that comes with the earth fence. You can actually use the wire's stiffness to push it into the trench if you hold it properly. Very easy to install and the insulation is quite thick. Very happy with this purchase

Professional wire for your pet fencing system

I needed a product to replace a very thin and fragile OEM wire. This wire was the answer. So far there have been no breaks in the loop and as described this cable is compatible with most popular pet fence systems so installation and connection to the control module was easy. Highly recommended.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • It's fine

Very durable good for dogs

I have had an in ground fence for my dog for about 10 years and have replaced the wire twice as well as numerous repairs to the broken wire, I ended up breaking it and spent a little more to this cable. It was easier to install due to its rigidity and I have no doubt it will last a lot longer than the little wire I bought at my local pet store.

Worth the money for the thicker gauge

This is the third time I've buried dog fencing wire. The first two times I went cheap. On the cheap wire, the spool broke, leaving me with an awkward tangle that made the awkward job worse. This solid wire is supplied on a thick spool. The wire itself is much thicker and stiffer, making it easier to push to the bottom of the trench. It feels very durable. The heavier gauge is unlikely to affect the performance of the fence, but will help resist future wire breaks. Wiring in an RF choke and…

Check each foot of it when installing

Thicker cables should work better than the ones I replace. Now for the bad news, after spending 2 days running cables from my house to the woods and back, I didn't feel any better than before I started. Now a day and a half later I have found 3 broken wires in over 600 feet of new wire. I AM NOT HAPPY, I HAVE 6 CONNECTIONS IN A BRAND NEW CABLE. Update I'm throwing away almost 600 feet of cable, the longer it's in there the more insulation breaks I have. I only see 1 other review that has the…

Much better than 20 gauge

I was very disappointed with the number of times my 20 gauge wire broke. After a year it seemed like I was getting a few days until my next break. In the end I couldn't take it anymore and ordered this 14 gauge. It's harder to splice but easier to route. The only issue I had was that when I rotated it to fit between the driveway expansion joint, it was too thick to fit. So I paired it with a matching 20 gauge. It works like a champ and I haven't had a break in over 4 weeks. I definitely…

Worth the Money!: Learning and Behavioral Guides

Note: When I bought this it only came with the wire, not the full kit I see listed now. Anyway, we installed our invisible dog fence for the first time. with a thin wire that came with the system. It was fine for a year and then we continued to have problems. Every few months I would hear it squeaking from the basement, indicating there was a broken wire somewhere. It got old and confusing because nothing was happening in the yard to break the wire. I was about to buy a brand new system until I
