They are far prettier than the tools taped to the covers of pattern books you find in stores this time of year. The handles are nice and thick, they're not difficult to hold at all and just feel good in your hand. The only complaint I have is the size of the saws, they are too thick to allow me to make some of the curves I want to make. It's not a big deal that they can't be used, but you may need to find a creative way to cut out some of the edges in your design.

My favorite knife was short because I could cut without worrying about the blade bending. However, the poker or awl is of the lowest quality in the set. That's never happened to me, even with the little plastic Halloween knives that come out every year. Great wood carving set, you don't want to buy new tools every year, the design is so cool, I like the ghost face! The woman's variety of tools come in very handy, and since someone who is least fond of woodcarving is gutting a pumpkin, a shovel works very well. The set comes in a lovely zip-up sleeve, similar to the ones you keep CDs in (for us old folks who remember them), in the Halloween colors of black and orange.
