Great purchase! for spare parts

Worked great. I'm a woman and I just pulled out the old ones and put these in. They work great. My hood on my 2006 Mercury Mountaineer Premier now stays alone. The dealer tried to charge me $120. Just get them and do it yourself for less than $15.

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks

Bonnet Won't Close

Didn't close the hood. The manufacturer should test them before sending them to the buyer. After searching the internet I found another person who had the same problem. Their solution was to turn the shaft one turn (breaking the inner seal) and then the hood would close.

Pros
  • High marks for grip and durability from testers
Cons
  • Failed

Great price, easy installation.

They sold out in no time. It only took a small screwdriver to remove the old parts before installation. Compared to what they sell at local auto parts stores, they're the real deal too. I think I paid about 50% of what they charged in stores. Highly recommended.

Pros
  • The best
Cons
  • The packaging is ugly

Much better than what was there

I don't understand how some people give poor ratings to these simple jobs they are responsible for. I bought these to replace 12 year olds on my 2006 climber and they work great where the originals didn't. They are installed in the same way, they do not leak, the hood is raised. The local collectors were asking $12 a fork tax for EACH, so it wasn't hard.

Pros
  • New
Cons
  • Slightly torn

After installation they worked perfectly.

They were installed on my 2006 Mountaineer just a few months ago. I don't go under the hood often, I've done basic fluid checks when the hood just wouldn't come up. So I bought QiMox Hood Lift Struts. The hood now has a lot more tension to stay open than the original OEM A-pillars that were 14 years old. I did a few hood up/down checks after installation, no problem. Now I have to pull hard to close the hood. I recommend it.

Pros
  • One year trial
Cons
  • Available in white only
