Very important! I love this unit!

I usually use the manufacturer's firewall systems, but their reliability is questionable given the price. I'm very familiar with using a PC for this task, but didn't want to invest in a large machine that might be running out of ports. Compared to branded firewall hardware, I can easily install software on it and get a lot more bang for my buck! The device does not have a fan, but the case is a large heat sink. The device gets warm but not hot. It's fast! lightning fast! The update time is…

Fast and reliable router or small industrial computer

This computer is more than enough to run ipFire, OPNsense or pfSense in a small network environment. The built-in M.2 SSD makes it easy to boot and reconfigure. I've had no trouble booting from USB sticks to test and compare IPfire, Opensense and pfSense software, and connecting a VGA output port to a connected monitor. Each of the three routing software packages I tried had no trouble detecting the hardware on this device. I had no problems implementing VLANs, booting, shutting down, updating…

Awesome router base

I bought this to finally build a Linux server to run my home network. I personally used ClearOS instead of pfSense and it worked great. I've connected it to a UniFi hotspot (the built-in WiFi isn't strong enough to be used as a WiFi hotspot), a switch, and two ISPs (ClearOS supports connection failover) and everything works fine. It's seriously overburdened for a router, so it has more than enough resources to work as a fairly powerful gateway server. The only problem I have is that I don't…

Good product for the price. Just what I needed

Love that it's fanless and has multiple gigabit ethernet ports. Much quieter in my living room! I installed pfsense and restored the configuration backup from my old device with no problems. A few downsides, the power supply technically works but the DC lug must have a break in one of the wires so it won't work unless you bend it a certain way. Another downside I found was that the wifi card wasn't working in pf, but that's not a priority for me as I already have a working hotspot. much…
