Terrible. for ballasts

Terrible. two new 1000 watt bulbs and none light up. Do I need to buy a special HPS lamp? If so, then there was no indication either from the manufacturer, on the packaging or in the instructions. I've waited at least 20 minutes for each bulb to light up to no avail. Only the MH works and I assume it lit the MH because each MH has its own built in igniter in the bulb. Two is even worse, I bought two of them. Heat, drought, and worrying about the house ballast burning out, I've done away with…

Pros
  • Pleasant
Cons
  • Obsolete

DO NOT BUY THIS BALLAST

Extremely disappointed with the Quant II 1000w ballast. Despite the bad reviews about the products, I bought two ballasts against my common sense (because Hydropharm put their name on them). Credit, this ballast is complete garbage. It turned on for about 20 seconds and then blew my new HPS bulb. This isn't my only lamp setup. I currently own a couple of 1000w xtrasun ballasts and can assure you it wasn't a bulb or electrical wiring. I'm not risking another expensive lightbulb only to find out…

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • New competitors have arrived

Ballasts with excellent value for money

In 2010 I bought three NEXTGEN 1000 watt ballasts for $399 each. It's amazing how much these things cost now. However. I recently started waxing again and after a few weeks one of the nextgens stopped working. So I did a little research and settled on Quantum 1000 Watts. I wasn't expecting much because they are cheap now, but when they arrived I was pleasantly surprised. I bought two of these because I like to have a backup when it comes to my lighting and garden. First thing I did was run both

Pros
  • Easy installation
Cons
  • Other interesting options are available.
