Western and Kinda Polite Kinda ironic movie Good old Tom Selleck. Who can't like him? My dad just loved this movie. The Man from the Snowy River was another film he liked. As a kid, I used to stay up late on Saturdays and watch a movie with my dad. I miss those times. Show the film to your son or daughter. the best things.

Sharp's vs Colt's Action & Adventure

Another twist on the classic western. Wealthy 1860s Australian rancher Marston (Alan Rickman) has hired Wyoming sniper Matthew Quigley (Tom Selleck) to work for him. The adventure begins when Quigley ends up in Fremantle after a three-month journey from San Francisco and an unexpected encounter with Texas expat Crazy Cora (Laura San Giacomo) and Marston's rough and tough Irish cowgirls. Timely guns all add up to a gripping western drama that features both men and women (and most children…

Good movie, funny and exciting and it's a good western story in Australia!

This is one of my favorite movies. I've just watched it for the fourth time and it was just as fun as it was when it was released in 1990. It has action, adventure, gunplay and love. Quigley goes to Australia to help a landed baron kill wild dingoes, he thinks. With his custom-built rifle, he's arguably the best long-range shooter in the world. He was actually hired to kill the natives. Quigley immediately hates his new boss and severely beats him in a fight. The Baron's mercenaries take…

A very good story. Best in Genre for select categories

I've seen this film twice before, but at least ten years apart, most recently in December 2016. This isn't Shakespeare. That's not Dickens. That's not Hugo. But it is good. Four stars is a personal bias because while the acting isn't incredible, each does a far more than worthwhile job of bringing their characters to life. you hate the bad guy You fancy a good guy. You want the romance to happen. The good thing about this film is that they didn't go too far. No loud explosions and generally no…

One of the Best Modern Westerns

Almost any fan of the genre will tell you that there are three or four great modern westerns out there. They are all made in the late 80's, early 90's, starting in 1985 with the Silverado. Tombstone and Unforgiven are also on the list. Often forgotten or overlooked, the fourth film is Quigley Downstairs. The casting for this film, starting with Tom Selleck starring Matthew Quigley, is outstanding. All wires are ideal for spares. Laura San Giacomo and Alan Rickman are the only other leads; both…
