Revolutionize Puzzle Building with Ravensburger Big Ben Technology Perfection Review

The small plastic clips on the underside supporting the base of Big Ben are a little flimsy and not strong enough to to hold the tower in place. One broke and the rest moved. However, I love the puzzle piece and the LED lighting.

Our daughter requested this figure for her 10th birthday after her brother got a beacon for his. It's relatively easy to build (she loves puzzles) and the pieces fit together well. It is plastic, has a good resemblance to reality and is well constructed. It's a bit tricky to get to the base but I've been told it's all about the technique (which I don't have). The lights weren't working upon arrival but my son played around with a few things and got it working so my little girl loved it.

This is less of a puzzle and more of an assembly. Parts are marked sequentially. I didn't have that sense of accomplishment that I usually get at the end of a puzzle. The stand and light make it look pretty cool when it's done. This appears to be a redeeming factor. This is a good decoration element. The corner pieces must be crimped and will not fold exactly 90 degrees. You must take the time to align each individual element to give it the clean, straight look that the tower requires.

I bought this for my 8 year old expecting to have to sit down and help him solve progressively more difficult (1000) puzzles. But after 30 minutes he mostly finished it alone. The hardest part was the top part when I entered. All pieces are numbered, making it very easy to start and continue the pattern. And I was expecting the puzzle to be cardboard for the price, but the pieces are plastic. It's really nice when it's built. Spent about 6 hours on this. He's 8 again. He's glowing beautifully…

This brand of puzzle is probably the highest quality and we have bought over 20 Ravensburger puzzles. I bought this puzzle to keep the kids busy on Labor Day while we visit relatives. Imagine kids wanting to build Big Ben, and when they reach the top of the tower, the pieces of the puzzle don't fit. Looks like they didn't include the correct parts for the top. I like that it lights up and the parts are made of durable plastic. I don't like that some of the clear plastic inserts that separate one group of puzzle pieces from another aren't strong enough. For example, I can't turn a puzzle upside down without it falling apart. If I hit the surface/table that the puzzle is on, I could knock over the clock-puzzle group.
