The rubber grip on the handle end is tactile to prevent the sharpener from slipping. Sharpens hooks fast. This is a very nice hook sharpener for larger size hooks and jigs. It's a very quick way to touch up your hooks before catching the "big one.". Easy to Sharpen. Hold the hook by the curve in the hook in your right and slide the point of the hook towards you at a shallow angle while holding the file in your left hand. Rotate the hook 120 degrees to achieve a triangular point.
