The GPU is easy to install and works with no issues

Works great with 2017 and 2018 MacBook Pro models. I used a Radeon RX580 in a case and it runs silently (there are three fan on the GPU) and no problems.

Pros
  • Nice to use
Cons
  • Almost everything is fine

Great graphics acceleration for laptops with Thunderbolt 3

I've actually used it with a 2018 Mac mini and am very happy. I paired this case with a Radeon RX 580 and the increase in graphics and GPU processing power was amazing! Due to the external nature of the graphics enclosure, you only get about 80% of the performance from the graphics card, but that's still a huge boost over your processor's integrated graphics. It's certainly an expensive graphics option, but this case is cheaper than its rivals and can handle performance-hungry graphics cards…

Get Core X, not CHROMA (loss of performance)

I do not recommend Chroma, if you are willing to accept the loss of performance get Core XI paired with Dell XPS 9570 (16GB / 1TB NVME) / ROG-STRIX-RTX-2080TI-O11G. I bought the ethernet and USB version of Chroma and it doesn't light up, unfortunately the ethernet port keeps crashing, even with drivers from the chip manufacturer's website. . If you plug anything into USB, the ethernet will also break. I returned the Chroma version for the regular Core X, then the Core X too. I couldn't justify…

Great box if you have the right Thunderbolt port

Easy to set up; I use Geforce 1060 to power my HP Specter. I also have an Acer Predator 15 that doesn't work with the box even though it has a Thunderbolt 3 port. If you want to use it with a non-Razer laptop, please note the following: Your laptop must have a Thunderbot 3 port that supports graphics standard in addition to nutrition. This may require a BIOS update and/or a driver update. From what I understand people have had good luck with some models from Dell XPS, Alienware etc and I…

Premium Build Quality

I don't know about you, but I've been looking for eGPU cases. the most practical case of all. Unlike most cases, the vents are on 4 sides of the case. It has a 72mm fan that pulls air in front of the graphics card and more for power delivery. which is missing in most cases. It comes with a 600W power adapter. In most cases this is not the case and they are much more expensive. Why? I have no idea other than that they include additional Thunderbolt and USB ports. (Which in my case doesn't need…

Don't contact support; just send it back

If you're looking for an integrated Ethernet network card, look elsewhere. This uses the ASIX AX88179 network chip, which is very finicky and will not work with many configurations. Unfortunately, I wasn't aware of this when I bought it. Luckily, my WiFi works fine, so I don't *need* necessarily* Ethernet support - it's just a handy feature that sets the Core X Chroma apart from less expensive competitors. This review is more about Razer's support methods: virtually all of Razer's documentation

Runs flawlessly on MacOS 10.14.x - Perfect AMD Vega 64 and Radeon VII

When I first bought the Razer Core X, the goal was to enable me to have a 4x 4K display with my (Late 2018) Mac Mini (which is limited to integrated Intel graphics). After reading numerous reviews, I paired it with an AMD Vega 64 (reference card) and it worked right away. I've now bought a second one to pair with the Radeon VII (read on for details) so I can power additional displays and benefit from streaming video to virtual machines. There is now a limitation when using an eGPU that does not
