We looked at 2 other portable DVD players before buying this one. It seems like they just don't want to play anymore after so many years. Whilst time will tell if this DVD player will hold up as long as the quality is there the picture is good and it can handle the repetitive playback a 5 year old needs. They are great for car trips. Kids love having their own screen. Previously, they had to share a screen in the middle of the car. Now they enjoy it more. They each have their own independent volume control and headphone jack if they wish to listen with headphones. When using the speaker function, it can be a little disturbing if one of the children has the volume much higher than the other. I'm only giving it 4 stars because of two factors: 1.
