Issues - Computers & Accessories

Don't worry if you're planning to upgrade to Windows 10. I had 2 boards and couldn't upgrade either of them to Windows with the latest MS updates. Same problem on both boards. I would drop it if you use it with Win 10. Linux seems to work fine. Other than that, it looks like a well-made board with lots of customization options. I have other SeeedStudio products that I like and use.

Pros
  • GOLS Certified
Cons
  • Updates

Odyssey works great with Win 10

I bought Odyssey just to play with it. I will use it for Pi gpio and for Arduino. That's the good thing about it, you can test a lot with it. Finding out can be a good case for this. You can connect a full-size graphics card to it with an adapter. If you don't want to buy a case I would put stands on top of it so you have bottom airflow for the fan.

Pros
  • Lots of positive emotions
Cons
  • Exchange availability

Own 2 have independent outputs. Back to China! crazy!

The first board I bought from PfSense had fan control issues. The second board bought here from Revain with Unifi Video has an unstable 64GB emmc chip but otherwise seems to work for my purposes. Seeed Studio's support is really bad, so don't expect anything but empty verbal statements from their internal support team. See only covers $11 for tracked shipping back to China to solve fee issues.

Pros
  • Good thing
Cons
  • Clarity

All in all this is a great SBC

My only complaint about this single board computer is that the supplied m.2 racks broke in the board (with little force) and such I had to glue them in place. Otherwise, the performance is good and the port selection is very good for a computer of this size. The re-computer case that Seed Studios offers for this board is a nice addition to the setup. I've used mine as an opnsense router for my home network and have had no complaints.

  • Will work for many people

Best x86 Single Board Computer Priced June 2020

This is a great little single board computer for server or desktop use. I used it as LXC host with Ubuntu Server. In that regard, it works perfectly. I ended up using several longer motherboard stands to mount them on the inside door of my textured media cabinet. I also used some pretty wrapping to make a case for it. :) edit - My motherboard for my pfSense router died and had to be rebuilt with SuperMicro. I used one of these boards while I waited. It also works well on pfSense (based on…

  • Sleek Design

Similar fan issues are good for computer components

Overall I wouldn't recommend the Odyssey, but you may need to fiddle around a bit to get it working properly. Just like many people have described my 4-wire PWM 5V devices, the fan was not working. Even after applying the new BIOS update. The Seeed website has a fan pinout. This is the exact opposite of the standard PWM CPU fan pinout. Pin 1 on the Odyssey is the signal line and pin 4 is ground. It's either that or the board has a wrong pin 1. The board has 3 power pins, so I plan on just…

I love this case: Computers & Accessories

I love this case so much. Fairly easy to assemble, although my fat fingers trying to guide the screws holding the base to the side case looked weird as the screws kept grabbing the magnetic corners holding the lid. Mounting holes at the bottom allow you to remove this item from valuable table space as shown in the picture. It's great that this case is also compatible with other SBCs, but for the various Rpis I have I would much rather have an actively cooled case with a form factor specific to…

Pros
  • Acceptable
Cons
  • Vulgarity

Probably the best case for a SOC computer.

This case is very good for what it is. I installed my NVidia Jetson Nano in it and it works great. It looks great, protects my Jetson and I really like the idea that I can have the same case with my RPi so I can buy another one and move my RPi around. What I don't like is that the back panel doesn't actually exist on the Jetson. I'm not sure about the RPI either. The front panel with USB output looks great but I had to use a regular back panel for the power connection which leaves some fairly…

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Very expensive

The perfect board from beginner to expert! Esxi pfsense arduino

I bought Seeed Studio Odyssey because of all the features. A virtual operating system was planned with pfsense as a firewall, Windows 10 as an NVR and a Linux distribution with Node Red and Docker. Then use the built-in Arduino for home automation. We didn't quite get it. I can only run esxi with Windows 10 and a Linux virtual machine. I also have a SATA PCIe and a 4-port NIC. I can't use the built in 64GB Emmc or Arduino drive which is disappointing. It's possible, just not with my setup…

Pros
  • Useful not only for its intended purpose
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
