Save money, may not work!

DOESN'T WORK FOR ME. It worked when I plugged it in and tested it, but after I fixed the installation issue (hiding the cable) it stopped working. I thought it was the camera but after using the included cable the camera was fine. I unplugged the cable, tried again (the car started, stopped, flipped the switch) but it stopped working. Installed the supplied cable for the DVR and after many days everything is fine. You shouldn't come back to that cable in the garbage. save your money

Great for Audi

Can confirm it works for my Audi Q5. I've used this for my DVR and it's a lot easier and potentially safer than a backup bypass setup. It powers my DVR perfectly and I think if your DVR uses Micro-USB it will probably work. Comes with a long cable that is enough for the front DVR, especially if you are trying to do a clean install (hide the cable in the grommet, pillar and headliner). I don't think it would reach the back of the car if you were hoping to use it for a backup camera.

Pros
  • Nice to use
Cons
  • No power

1 out of 3 works as described.

I bought 3 of these connectors to easily move the DVR between cars. The switch worked for a car hookup; Lexus 350 2007 The two switches do nothing. They are used in the 2007 Acura MDX and the 2016 Ford Expedition. The dash cam turns on in both of these cars, but you have to remember to turn the power on and off manually. The switch may be defective or the vehicles are not compatible. I checked the incompatible vehicle list before purchasing and did not see my Acura or Ford listed. It would beโ€ฆ

ideal solution for installing a dashcam

Cable works great, long enough to install a camera near the rear view on two different cars, and there's plenty of extra length you can reach the OBD port; easily clips into moldings around windshield etc. for discreet installation; The switch offers options if your camera needs power all the time or if it has a battery for park mode. Update: Removing a star for compatibility - I have 2 of these, each for a different make of car, and while one works great as expected, the other doesn't. I think

  • Lots of positive emotions
Cons
  • A dubious purchase for the elderly

Installation couldn't be simpler than just connecting to the ODB port. I watched on youtube how to hide the cable for my car and it looks like a pro installed it :-). Anyway, I like the ability to turn the power on and off with the on/off switch on the plug. Although it says it will stop drawing power when the battery dies, I turn it off when I park it in my garage as an extra precaution. I would recommend this adapter even if your dash cam doesn't have a "parking mode" feature, simply becauseโ€ฆ

Whoever invented this should win the Nobel Prize in automotive engineering.

For years I had to plug and unplug the DVR's power adapter from the cigarette lighter socket every time I got in or out of my 2009 Chevy Suburban. This is because the cigarette lighter gets power even when the engine is off, and the DVR doesn't turn off when I turn off the engine. This isn't optimal, especially if you forgot to turn it off and drained your car battery. The universal REARMASTER OBD power cable solves this problem.
