To give you confidence in what I'm saying, let me preface that I'm a science teacher. I checked the temperature of this item with two precision thermometers and found it to be between 8 and 10 degrees. Conclusion: shit.

I first tested it next to my old one in the fridge and it was perfect. Then I put it in the freezer. My refrigerator broke a few weeks ago. I think it works great. Good to know the temperature. My fridge is 15 years old so I try to keep an eye on it.

I put them both in the same fridge and they give two different readings which is not good at all. However, it is very difficult to find two thermometers that give the same readings, even very expensive ones. They can be calibrated, but who knows if the thermometer used to calibrate them is correct?

I used it in a caravan to confirm the temperature, later used it in my fridge at home. Everything seems to work fine from the start, but I never checked the accuracy, later they lay side by side in my home fridge. Estimate 2 different readings (more than 5 degrees). There are very sharp spots at the edge. So sharp it cut and bled my hand.

They work as advertised, they show consistent fridge temperature, both box and freezer. They are small enough not to take up space, but large enough to be read when the door is opened. As this is their second fridge, I wanted to know if it is showing its age and if there are any problems keeping food cool and cold. Now I know. A small investment that can pay off big - in the knowledge that the box works as it should.

I bought two sets and checked with a digital laser thermometer. One was very close, only 1F° off, but the other was pretty bad. it reads about 3-5F° lower than it should. Given their availability, it's not surprising that the tolerances are very tight, but you can keep that in mind and test the ones you buy before trusting them with readings that require any sort of accuracy.

I bought this item to control the temperature in the fridge and freezer. I tested their accuracy by placing them next to 3 other thermometers that I have tested closely and they were 5 degrees lower on one and 4 degrees higher on the other. I put them in my cart because I don't want to go to the Amazon store to return them during the COVID-19 troubles.
