We put the Apple TV in the gym and keep the remote on the treadmill stand. We have a concrete floor and it's only a matter of time before one of us accidentally drops that remote control. I got it because it has a small square cutout for the trackpad but it doesn't go all the way to the edge like the remote. This was enough not to get in the way, but mitigate the touchpad issue.
