Not a direct replacement for

The installation of the original keyboard in this new case failed. Plus at least $50 each to carve keys. It's not worth it.

Pros
  • PLEASE NOTE: This item DOES NOT include a remote control board, battery OR security transponder chip!
Cons
  • Almost never

Okay, it takes a bit of manual work.

It takes some modification to get the key, but if you have a dremel, hand tools and a bit of logic you can do it. You should cut your standard key thinner to fit the plastic key slot, or cut the plastic, knock out a small pin and do the same with your old key. The quality of the goods is average, but the price does not bite.

Pros
  • Dope 🔥
Cons
  • Obsolete

The opening button did not work

This is how I was able to transfer the original sheet, electronics and chip to a new key on my R53 Cooper. I had to shed part of the blade to fit the new key. It wasn't a show stop for me, but maybe for others it was. The main problem is that the Open button didn't work. I had to dig with my fingernail to press the button. The lock button worked correctly.

Waste of time with key shells

Biggest disappointment with NOTHING I have ever bought from Revain. Empty scrap blanks are thicker than standard blanks, so you can't just replace the original (already cut) key blade with an old one. The quality of the "buttons" (I quote specifically because the only one that CAN work is the unlock button - the lock button is junk). Also, the guts (the electronics with the actual switches on them) that you swap from old to new DO NOT even snap - they just rattle in the 'new' key fob. Absolute…

Good product for the price

Fairly easy to swap everything out for a new case. I actually had to unscrew the original key that comes with the new case to get it to fit. The key blade that comes with the cases is cut off where the pin goes to keep it in place. It's thinner in the new case, so you'll have to grind the blade of the original key to make it fit. I used a Dremel tool to sharpen the blade of my wrench and it fits snugly and securely. I also used some hot glue to secure the fob electronics in place as many…
