Works as intended.

This is my second Renology solar charger. I still use the first one which is 4 years old. I just found a random need for the second one. I wouldn't recommend staying connected all the time. And don't expect the battery to charge in just a few hours. I like the choice of ports. The ring terminals on the adapter are the correct size for ATV/UTV/Motorcycle type batteries. If this charger is used for its intended purpose, you should be satisfied.

Seems to be working, update in 1 year

Update: For over a year, pieces of fabric on my dashboard have been deteriorating around the edges and falling apart when touched. I assume the panel is still running. -2 stars for that. First review: I didn't use suction, but I can confirm it shook the mess off my tongue. In direct light, the effect is much stronger. I connected it to my car's 12 volt battery with terminal screws. Anyone who has tried to attach them to terminal poles is an idiot (yes, it's from the guy who electrocuted himself

Solar charger works well and gives electrifying results

Works well; keeps the battery level up when I'm using accessories and driving lightly. I've found that the more coolers I can hold, the more current/amps it will produce. I keep a layer of cardboard between it and the glass/case or raise it above the surface to allow air to circulate to try and keep it cool. Under no circumstances should it be installed INSIDE the glass as this will exceed the maximum operating temperature. easy. This reduces the output power, which will destroy the charger…

No regret. for generators and portable power supplies

I have been using Renogy 5W Solar Battery Maintenance for two weeks on vacation. There are a few things I appreciate about the charger. I like the quality of the product, the panel itself feels a lot more solid than I expected and the wire gauge seems reasonable. The suction cups are VERY strong and come with an extra pair. I also like the choice of three different charging contacts. Although I've only used the loop connection so far, I love the versatility the clamps and 12v connections offer.

  • Test for one year
Cons
  • Everything OK

Well yes, but actually no!

Great little charger that got my rarely used Hyundai Elantra started even in the (modest) Wisconsin winter. But after 7 months, the nylon webbing around the outer rim completely disintegrated. I thought I had a lot of door lock grease on my hand until I realized it was powder. Turns out the nylon turned to powder DURING SUN TREATMENT! Solar charger that must not be exposed to the sun. Looks like a problem. But I don't want to give it a bad rating. It still works fine and the problem is mostly…

A 10w panel is all you need for a 12v battery.

I only have one complaint about this panel, the 12 volt plug is too long to fit into my '92 Chevy C2500- to match the ashtray socket. However, due to the excellent performance of the panel, I still think it deserves 5 stars. I just order a smaller replacement plug from Revain and plug it into an extension cord. I'll post the link as soon as I have it. The cold nights were draining my truck's 12-volt battery, so I needed something to keep it charged until I could afford to replace it. I leave it

Cheap case, sunlight ruins the frame.

Update January 2021, bought 6 months ago, "frame" with solar panel is falling apart. That doesn't hold up at all for something whose job it is to be exposed to the sun. Cheap stuff, don't buy it. As I wrote earlier, the windshield on my 2006 Chevy Silverado truck drops the current from about 460mA (outside) to about 187mA (behind the front window) on the 5 watt version. I knew this before I bought the unit and that's why I bought this 10 watt unit to replace my 5 watt panel. I can add a 5 watt…

Looks good but doesn't work

On paper this solar charger looks nice. In real use, however, it does not do its job. I had a van that ran about a week between trips. I bought this 10w charger thinking it would be perfect for keeping the battery going. However, after first charging the battery with a conventional charger and then connecting it directly to the battery for more than three weeks, the battery was still draining. I checked the power supply on a sunny day and it showed over 19 volts. So something else is going on…

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model

10 watts doesn't seem like enough

My 4runner's battery drains a bit when not in use, so I bought it to keep it charged. I have it on my dash so the glass might lose some, also it only gets sun a few hours a day and now the winter sun is at a low angle. Knowing I was going to use it that way, I bought a 10 watt panel, thinking it would be enough as many service people only have a few watts. But it doesn't seem to do much. I fully charged my battery with my 110 charger a few days ago and two days later my battery showed 12.43…
